VEGETABLE MOMOS

Ingredients:---

For momos:-

Refined flour (maida) - 1 cup,
Oil - 1 tsp,
Salt to taste,

For the filling:-

Ginger-garlic - 1 tbsp (chopped finely),
Capsicum - 1 (chopped finely),
Cabbage - 1/2 cup (shredded),
Carrot - 1 (grated),
Salt n pepper to taste,
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp (optional),
Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp (chopped),
Light soya sauce - 1 tsp,
MSG - 1/4 tsp (optional),

Method

1. Make a semi-stiff dough with maida, salt, oil and water. Cover with a damp cloth and set aside.
2. For the filling, take oil in a pan. Add ginger-garlic. Saute.
3. Add chopped vegetables. Saute for a while and add salt, peppers, MSG, red chilli powder, light soya sauce and coriander leaves, filling is ready. Let it cool.
4. Divide the dough into equal portions. Roll out each portion of dough into small thin chapatis. Place a portion of vegetable filling in the center and fold the edges of the dough circles like saree pleats, pinching it once you reach the end. Use a little water to seal. Momos can be made into different shapes like moneybags or envelops.
5. Steam the momos for about 15 minutes until they are swollen.
6. Serve with momos chutney.

Note:- If you don't have a steamer take a big pan with a tight lid. Arrange the momos in a steel plate. Put about 2 cups water in the pan. Place a steel bowl in the pan and put the plate of momos on it. Cover the lid and steam for about 12 minutes on medium flame.

CHUTNEY:--

Tomatoes - 2,
Garlic flakes - 5-6 (chopped),
Dry red chillies - 5,
Vinegar - 2 tsp,
Salt to taste,
Oil - 1 tbsp,

Method

1. Heat oil in a kadhai. Add garlic and tomatoes. Add red chillies Saute till tomatoes become pulpy.
2. Mix vinegar and salt.
3. Cool and grind in a mixer.
4. Serve with momos.
